The
book is called "Godless
Grief:
An Atheist Discussion of Death, Divorce and Other
Family Loss.
This
work was done originally as a personal journey after discovering
through the loss of a friend that there were no definitive
guides regarding loss found that were secular and no-deist
in nature. You can find the full story of the book at GodlessGrief.com.
In fact, you can take part in the forums there.
Godless
Grief also started in a search of a way to describe
a friend's death to her young daughter. As her last wish,
this woman, who lost a battle with breast and ovarian cancer,
requested that her child be given strong advice on mourning,
and a sound explanation of loss, without the mention of a
higher being or a heaven. Her Atheist friends, searched for
weeks for such a guide only to discover none existed.
Jones
never ran across anything that was more than a paragraph long
as a sense of nod to those of secular beliefs. Godless
Grief is a guide for Atheists, of secular experiences
in loss. Contributors include Dr. Richard Dawkins, Margaret
Downey, and dozens of Atheists from the United States and
Australia. This book provides assistance to all Atheists,
seeking to provide answers, closure, mourning, and understanding
of death, loss, and even of family changing events, such as
a job change, illnesses, household moves, or divorce.
