jazz, lyrics, and a little zappa influence

The Day I Stood There

It wasn't the weight of the world on my shoulders
As wide as they are, they wouldn't have gone far
With the thoughts becoming as large as boulders
Of times all alone, and with some man at home
I just stood there, unable to move

It wasn't the words you tried to invite me to hear
As sweet as they are, they wouldn't have gone far
Until I got my bearings and freed from the year
I let the past go on, and I could get a move on
I just stood there, ready to move

The day I stood there before you
The day I wanted to adore you
I was finally free from a long gone lover
I finally convinced him that this part of life was over
He set me free reluctantly and I was ready to be
Standing there before you

It was the push of natural progressions, so
Time was right then, you smiled at me again
Nature called us both to each other so we'd know
Forever started in time for two of the same mind
We just stood there, and said "I Do"

The day I stood there before you
The day I we wed, and implored you
Never set me free from life long loving
You finally convinced me that this life is soaring
We are free to be in each others' company
Our life is all before us, two.
