True
Fear
I'm afraid of those who pray
their minds don't stay on track
I'm afraid of those who say
they're faith will bring them back
I fear for those who talk to ghosts
as if they were true friends
I fear all those with degrees who hold
my life now in their hands.
if they can't trust themselves to use their knowledge
to make the judgements from what they've learned in college
they've never learned a single thing
They've got nothing at all to bring
And I'm afraid of those who pray
Talking to themselves is voodoo
They forget all that wiser men do
Make believe is just perception
The truth gets hidden in this deflection
All this calling hocus pocus magic
Their belief makes possibilities tragic
incantations offer no salvations
And my gospel is scientific explanation
Fairy tales will only fail
And that's reality
I've got to take the time to say that gospels
aren't nothing more than fairy tales to dispel
They've never proved a thing
that human nature itself doesn't bring
And I'm afraid for those who pray
